Truist Financial Corp. CEO Kelly King to headline January’s Economic Forecast Forum  WRAL Tech Wire

DURHAM – Kelly King, chairman and CEO of the newly formed Truist Financial Corporation, is set to headline next month’s Economic Forecast Forum, hosted by North Carolina Chamber and the North Carolina Bankers Association.

As the keynote speaker, King will deliver his perspective as the head of Truist, the new institution formed from the merger of BB&T Corp. (formerly based in Winston-Salem) and Atlanta’s SunTrust Banks. Truist recently announced that it will be setting up its headquarters in Charlotte’s Hearst Tower in early-2020, along with a new Innovation and Technology Center.

The Economic Forecast Forum is slated for January 7 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham. King will join other leaders in business and economics in sharing their insight on North Carolina’s 2020 trajectory, particularly within the scope of job creation, job retention and quality of life.

In addition to King’s keynote, the event also includes talks centered around the theme, “Why North Carolina?” Speakers include Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina CEO Chris Chung, Martin Marietta Chairman, President and CEO Ward Nye, Bank of America Triangle Market President Kari Stoltz and Walk West VP of Professional Development Sharon Delaney McCloud.

Later, a panel of economists and experts will share their forecast for the next year of economic growth in North Carolina. Panelists are: NC Bankers Association Economist and Appalachian State Professor of Finance Harry Davis, NC State William Neal Reynolds Distinguished Professor and Extension Economist Michael Walden, Next Sector Capital Managing Partner Eugene Flood and Wells Fargo Securities Senior Economist Sarah House.

The 18th annual event of its kind, the Forecast Forum has attracted sold-out crowds in the past. Over 700 attendees are expected. Tickets are available on Eventbrite for $115 per person.
